Hi all, got a small area in the backyard, that assumably just had weed at the moment. I want to make this area a bit more pretty. Do i just use rake and wee killer and lay new grass seeds or is laying grass turfs are a better way to go?
Also have this small area at the back that is quite moist and has all sorts of bugs, slugs etc. living ther. Are there any solutions to kill whatever is there and somehow dry the whole place? I assume the tank overflow going down the drain there.
Thanks for your question @mmyagkiy.
The article What to do when weeds overtake your lawn? has great advice for you from our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts. There are also excellent Bunnings step-by-step guides such as How to lay turf and How to grow grass from lawn seed that should contain all the advice you need.
Whether you choose to lay instant turf or grow from seed usually comes down to your desired timeframe.
But could you please tell us where you are based and how much sunlight the lawn would receive each day? If it's in shade most of the time, you might struggle to grow grass. Paving, mulch or a shade-tolerant groundcover might be better choices.
