Morning Workshop Friends.
Just a friendly reminder now that it’s heating up. Raise your blades on your lawn mower. If you cut your lawn too short on a hot day it will burn and go into shock.

Fortunately for a friend of mine who this happened to recently, we were able to fix it and get it back slowly.

Keep the water up to it early in the morning.

DO NOT water at night as the warm humid nights cause fungal problems.

I have always stuck to my 50/50 mix of Rock Minerals and Granulated Wetting Agent .

I also use a good drenching of Molasses mixed with water in a watering can.

De - Thatching your lawn after mowing by using a grass rake to rake away lawn clippings so they don’t build up.

Will post another photo of the lawn recovery soon 😊

Re: How to recover your lawn if cut too short

Hello @mich1972

Thank you so much for that lawn-saving advice. I'm guilty of leaving my lawnmower blade level too low and have damaged part of my lawn at one point. Would you advise to aerate it or apply your rock minerals and granulated wetting agent formula straight away? I'm sure a lot of our members will find this lawn-saving guide very useful.

Just to be sure are you referring to these two products?

Again, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Thank You @EricL

This is a newly laid lawn so there was no need to aerate it. If it’s old and compacted I would then aerate it.

Yes these are two of my very favourite products I use all the time 😊

I would like to say, I know it’s a pain in the backside BUT if you can do it , rake up any lawn clippings left on the lawn after mowing as it helps to stop the thatch building up and causing sponging and also fungal problems.
Also never water at night.

HI @mich1972

That looks wonderful! I'm sure your friend sighed in relief that the turf was saved. Stay in the shade and drink lots of fluids to keep hydrated in that heat.
