Hi
I have noticed that there are bugs on my garden furniture . Not sure what are those. Can anyone please let me know how can i get rid of ?
Thanks
Hi @Cham1,
I can't identify them with any real certainty, but they look like either small stink bugs or a variety of shield bug to me.
They don't look like termites or any timber-eating insect that I'm aware of, if that is part of your reason for asking.
Is it possible to get a close-up photo of one of them against a neutral background? Roughly how long would you say they are in millimetres? Also, what general area are you in?
Allow me to tag our knowledgeable members @Noelle, @robchin, @mich1972 and @Dave-1 to see if they have any idea what they might be.
I'll wait and see if you can provide some further context and assist further.

Good Evening @Cham1
My first thought was "Stinkbugs" of some type lol and the second thought was they must have found something tasty on your chairs? Maybe a spilled drink, droppings or it just smells nice to them 😕
I cant tell what type of stink bugs but that flat disk shape of their body makes me double think about poking them
I would be careful just in case but maybe a high pressure hose down and scrub of the chairs and see if they come back might be a solution?
Dave
@JacobZ They are very small :less than 0.5 cm and came to our recently build bench on our retaining. It was built with h4 treated and painted with dulux weathershield low sheen paint. I think they got in to our Artificial grass as well and we are in western suburbs of Melbourne. @Dave-1 I used the high pressure hose , but there are lot more .
Thanks
Morning @Cham1
Just went googling to see if icould find out what they are.
I would suggest to read through www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity-trade I dont think they are but the photos are hard to make out. If you scroll down that page at the bottom there is a "report it" link and the link will also show you a 1800 number even if you arnt sure.
What the brown marmorated stink bug looks like is also a description about the bugs. Not sure at all 😕
Dave
Hi @Cham1,
I'm not certain whether they are brown marmoted stink bugs or not, but they look close enough that I'd say it is worth giving the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry a call to discuss.
If it turns out they are, then I imagine they will step in to assist; if not, I would suggest you contact a pest control specialist for their assistance with identifying and handling them.
