How to remove oxalis weed?

Hi all, as you see the pictures above - there are weeds growing out on my lawn and I believe I have buffalo grass type.

This will be my first tiem trying to figure how to kill these weeds. I also believe these weeds are called oxalis...?

Would love some suggestions or guidance on how to remove them and avoid them growing back again.

Thank you!

Re: What steps should I take when removing oxalis weed

Hi @SamuelLing,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

Having a look at your images, I would agree that it is Oxalis.

I would suggest the best method of dealing with it is to spray it with Bin-Die, which is a selective herbicide that will treat Oxalis and is safe for use in Buffalo lawns. Spray the Oxalis, wait two weeks to see how it has responded and reapply if necessary.

Make sure you wear gloves, a mask, enclosed shoes and long protective clothing while applying herbicides to prevent any potential irritation.

The best thing you can do to prevent its return is to maintain a healthy lawn and address any weed growth quickly before it can spread.

Regular mowing and applications of lawn fertiliser will help to keep your lawn thick and healthy, which can help prevent weeds from getting a foothold.

Inspect regularly for weeds and manually remove them when possible. If you see something that is not grass, pull it out before it can spread.

Check out the Lawn section of our D.I.Y. advice page for further information on how to maintain a healthy lawn.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
