How to revive alocasia with yellow leaves?

I’ve had this plant for 4 years and just this year all her leaves have started to yellow and fall down. It was still producing flowers so I’m really not sure what’s wrong. It used to be really lush and had massive gorgeous leaves but there are now only three leaves left.

Maybe it wants re potting This will give it some TLC and cant hurt it.

It sounds like your Alocasia is experiencing stress, which could be due to several factors such as watering issues, temperature changes, pests, or dormancy. Since you've had the plant for four years, a sudden decline suggests an environmental change or a root-related issue.

Watering and Root Health: Alocasias are sensitive to overwatering and underwatering. If the soil has stayed too wet, the roots may have developed root rot, which causes yellowing and browning leaves. On the other hand, too little water can cause leaves to dry out and die. Check the soil moisture—if it’s soggy, consider repotting in free-draining soil like Osmocote Premium Indoor Potting Mix, available at Bunnings. If it’s very dry, water it thoroughly but ensure excess water drains away.

Seasonal Dormancy: Alocasias often go dormant in cooler months, especially if temperatures drop below 15°C. During this time, they naturally lose leaves. If this is the case, reduce watering and wait for warmer weather, when new growth should return.

Light & Humidity: These plants thrive in bright, indirect light. If yours is not getting enough light, try moving it closer to a window or using a grow light like the Home Grown Indoor Clip On Grow Light from Bunnings. Also, if the air is too dry, misting the plant or placing it near a humidifier can help.

Pests: Check for spider mites or mealybugs, which can weaken the plant. Use Yates Nature’s Way Citrus & Ornamental Spray if you find any pests.

If all else fails, check the corm (underground bulb-like structure). Even if all leaves die, a healthy corm can regrow new shoots in spring. If the corm is firm, cut back the dead growth and let it rest until warmer months.
