Hi bunnings team,
I need your advice about my pea plants they look healthy and flowering but bottom leafs are wilting,
is it normal or do i need to do something?
Thanks.
Hi @BismaAbbid,
Generally speaking, outside of the wilting leaves, your peas look healthy.
Wilting leaves at the bottom are quite common and often not a serious problem. As the plant matures, it naturally directs its energy into producing flowers and pods, so the older leaves at the base can yellow or wilt with age.
The best approach would be to simply remove the wilting lower leaves. These older leaves are no longer contributing much to the plant’s growth and can instead become a place for pests or fungal issues to develop. Snip or gently pinch them off at the base, taking care not to damage the main stem.
By removing them, you not only tidy up the plant but also improve air circulation around the base, which helps reduce the risk of mildew. The plant will then focus its energy on producing flowers and pods, which is exactly what you want at this stage.
You might like to have a read through Planting And Growing Peas from Seeds and How To Grow, Care For And Harvest Snow Peas for some general advice around growing peas.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
