How to stop birds from perching on external blinds?

Hey all. I've got external blinds around alfresco that sparrows perch on and sit and make a MESS on anything and everything.

Any tips to get them to stop?

Re: How to stop birds from perching on external blinds?

Hello @amichaelmedia

A quick way to stop the sparrows from perching on your external blinds is to cover up their perch. I propose measuring the gap between your external blinds housing to the ceiling. Let's say for example that the distance between the gap is 42mm, I suggest looking at using 42 x 19mm 2.4m DAR Pine Premium. It can be fixed in place using Scotch-Mount Extreme Double-Sided Mounting Tape 2.5cm x 1.5m or Selleys 300g Clear Wet Area Waterproof Silicone Sealant.

You can use other materials if you wish, but blocking off their access would be the quickest way to discourage them from perching in that spot.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1@Noyade and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @amichaelmedia

Fix these lightweight ant--bird spikes along the roofline about 30mm off the face of the box gutter. They are 600mm long but you can cut them easily with side cutters or a hacksaw to trim the last one to length.

I use them often in these situation and work a treat!

Good Afternoon @amichaelmedia

Both of @EricL and @Nailbag 's suggestions are the ones I reached for. Tho out of the two I like the timber as an easier solution (plus I dont like plastic  )

Even rolled up shade cloth wedged into that gap would work. (roll it around an old tomato stake and wedge it in) No glue needed.
