How to transplant new Sansevieria growth?

Hi, I have a Sansevieria hybrid which has this new growth growing. Can I transplant it to make another plant and if so how would I do it? Do I dig down to roots and plant from there or cut it off further up and get roots to grow from there? I’m fairly new to gardening and indoor plants. Thanks.

That’s a bit of an unusual one for a standard Sansevieria as they typically have pups, and it might be a trait from the hybridised plant. Though it could be a pup, but I'm not familiar with this style of growth on a Sansevieria. You could try digging down to see if the new growth has its own roots attached. If it does, you can sever it from the main plant and repot it.

If there are no roots, you could place a separate pot of soil underneath the section of stem and cover it with soil. This might encourage roots to grow from the stem into the soil, and once it has developed enough roots, you can cut it away from the mother plant. Just be sure to wait until the new growth has a decent root system before separating it.

You could try cutting the growth off, covering the cut end in hormone powder and planting it in soil or leaving it in a vase of water to develop its own roots. However, you'll always have better success if it has roots on it before removal.

I've never seen a snake plant (Dracaena fasciata) act in this way before. I would suggest you try getting it to root by layering it as Mitchell has suggested. Place the base of the upright growth into a separate pot of suitable mix but first make a small angled cut about half way into the stem near the base of the leaves, to encourage roots to form. Don't bury the layer too deeply. You could form a wire pin to secure it in place in the new pot. Keep it moist but not wet and check in about 6-8 weeks to see if roots have formed

thanks for the help.
I have had a look to see if the new growth had its own root system starting, unfortunately it’s attached to the main plant. However, a bit further along where the stem was still under the soil, a few roots have started, so I’m leaving them to establish. I have also cut the stem a little closer to the leaves, added hormone powder and put that part into some soil to try and encourage some roots to grow.🤞

I will keep you informed as to how it goes.

thanks for the advice.
I have tried both methods. As the new stem had a few roots growing under the soil, I have left those to establish, plus I have slit the stem near the leaves, added hormone powder and staked it under the soil to encourage root growth. 🤞 I will have a new plant to grow. I will keep you posted.
