Hi Team,

Thanks in Advance
Hello @sudheer1301
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your mandarin tree.
The severe leaf curling you're seeing on your mandarin tree is most likely caused by a combination of sap-sucking pests and possibly some environmental stress. The main culprit is usually aphids, especially citrus leaf curl aphids, which feed on the young new growth and cause the leaves to curl tightly as they develop. These pests tend to hide inside the curled areas, making them hard to spot at a glance, but if you gently open one of the curled leaves, you’ll often find clusters of tiny green or black insects inside.
In some cases, thrips or even citrus psyllids might also be involved, and heavy infestations can lead to distorted growth and even reduced fruit production. To treat this effectively using Bunnings-available products, go for Richgro 1L Beat-A-Bug Naturally Based Insect Spray It’s a ready-to-use mix that includes natural pyrethrins and oil, which knock down pests while also helping smother eggs and larvae hiding inside curled foliage. Spray thoroughly, making sure to get into all those folds and undersides of leaves, and reapply every 7 to 10 days until the curling stops and new growth looks healthy.
For ongoing prevention, you can also use Yates PestOil which works well against a range of citrus pests by coating and suffocating them. Make sure your tree is well-fed with something like Yates Thrive Citrus & Fruit Liquid Plant Food to encourage steady, vigorous new growth that can better resist pests and bounce back more quickly. Keep the tree consistently watered, especially during dry or windy periods, as stress from inconsistent moisture can make pest damage look worse and slow recovery.
