Hi, I just got my Zoysia empire turf laid 3 days ago and I have been watering since. I have noticed a 2 to 3 patches of turf have turned brown. I think the soil underneath is ok but these patches may have missed out on heavy watering the first day. Is it possible for these to recover? Is there anything in particular that I should do?
Also - should I feed the lawn anything yet?
Thanks
Hi @Brian101,
When turf is establishing, you want it to be constantly wet for around two weeks until the roots establish. Depending on conditions, this will usually mean watering twice a day, if not more.
Unfortunately, adding any kind of fertiliser is not possible at this point as you are trying to establish new roots, which, being soft and immature, will be burnt by lawn fertilisers.
At this point, it is hard to say whether it will bounce back, but the best thing you can do is make sure it is getting plenty of water and keep an eye on it. If it doesn't bounce back in the next week or so, it is likely best to cut it out and replace it.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
