Hey team. Is this potentially rot root? Or something else?

Re: root rot or something else?

Hi @amichaelmedia,

My first thoughts are that it is potentially a fungal issue called ink spot disease. The best approach for controlling ink spot is to ensure the plants are healthy. Give them a prune after flowering, and fertilise in spring and winter. Pruning is vital in keeping the plant healthy, and at that time, you can remove the more affected leaves. For now, I'd recommend you go through and cut off all the brown/black leaves and affected flower stems back to the base and dispose of them in your hard rubbish.

Here's a helpful guide: How to maintain healthy Kangaroo Paw plants.

Let me mention a couple of our gardening experts, @Noelle and @mich1972, to see if they have any thoughts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: root rot or something else?

Mitchell's reply is most probably correct, @amichaelmedia . Keep plants healthy by practising hygiene principles like removing diseased materal and ensuring secateurs are clean and dipped regularly in methylated spirits or weak disinfectant to kill bacteria and fungal spores.
