Hi everyone,
Wondering what plants the "brains trust" could recommend for this spot?
We currently have a native Apple Berry planted and would like some extras to grow quickly and hide next door's bathroom window.
Photo was taken facing due North and the spot is fully shaded by mid afternoon.
Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated as I'm just starting out with my two 'green' thumbs.
Hi @GregLogan,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
If you want something fast to cover that fence and block the window, go for reliable, easy-care climbers that handle part shade. Bower of Beauty (pandorea jasminoides) and Happy Wanderer (hardenbergia violacea) are great native choices that establish quickly and will blend well with your Apple Berry, while Star Jasmine (trachelospermum jasminoide) is a classic low-fuss option if you don’t mind going non-native.
Just make sure to give them plenty of water and fertilise with Scotts Osmocote All Purpose Controlled Release Fertiliser a couple of weeks after planting, and they should grow thick and strong in no time.
Allow me to tag @mich1972 and @Noelle to see what plants they'd pick for this.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Great suggestions from Jacob, @GregLogan ! These will thrive in most climates and soils but if you're further north (Brisbane for example) you may like to look at one or more of the subtropical climbers like bougainvillea, allemanda, etc - there's quite a few to choose from and your local Bunnings is sure to have a good range in stock.
