What is wrong with my Hardenbergia?

Hello! My Hardenbergia is around 12 months old and started its like fantastically. In the last 2-3 months the leaves are continuing to turn brown and have some sort of rust like effect. There is also separately some sort of pest on it which is stunting and warping the new leaves, so I have purchased Eco Neem for that. Not sure how to solve the discolouring issue.

It looks like your Hardenbergia is dealing with a combination of pest damage and possibly fungal or environmental stress. The warping and stunting of the new leaves are likely due to pests such as aphids, scale, or spider mites, which are known to affect this plant. Eco Neem is a good choice to address these pests, as it’s a natural solution that will help control them without harming the plant. Be sure to follow the application instructions and inspect the plant regularly, particularly under the leaves and along stems, as pests tend to hide in those areas.

As for the browning and rust-like discolouration of the leaves, this could be a sign of a fungal infection, especially if the spots are raised or orange in colour. A copper-based fungicide might help to clear it up, and be sure to remove any affected leaves to prevent the spread of the disease. Alternatively, the discolouration could be caused by environmental stress—Hardenbergia can be sensitive to overwatering or poor drainage, which can cause root rot and leaf browning. Make sure the plant is in well-draining soil and not sitting in water. Sometimes, especially if you have a clay base, plants can thrive until they are large enough that their roots reach the clay layer. There, they become saturated from the retained water, which leads to a sudden change in health.
