What sealant for limestone pool pavers?

Hi, Ive just had engineered limestone pavers laid around my pool. I'm looking for a penetrating sealant that keeps them looking matt.

Does Bunnings stock anything for this?

Thank you

Re: What sealant for limestone pool pavers?

Hi @DIYH,

For your limestone pool pavers, I’d recommend using Crommelin’s Natural Finish Penetrating Sealer. This is a penetrating sealer, so it soaks into the stone rather than sitting on top, which means it keeps the natural matt look of your limestone and doesn’t make it glossy or slippery, which is a key point around a pool area. It’s specifically suitable for reconstituted limestone. However, engineered limestone can sometimes have other water-repelling additives in it, so it's important to do a porosity test to check that the sealer can indeed penetrate. During a time of day when the sun is not directly on the pavers, pour a small amount of water on them. Check back in 30 minutes. If the water has soaked in, then you are alright to use the sealer, but if it is still sitting on the surface and has beaded up, the pavers are not porous and can not take a penetrative sealer. If you do get beading, I'd recommend you contact the manufacturer of the paver for their advice on suitable sealers.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
