Bench extension using vertical slats

Bench extension using vertical slats

I made a small table to add to the end of the bench in the kitchen to give extra work space and area for stools.

I then got an idea to close it in to hide the bin and dog bowls. It was quite easy to fill in three sides, leaving the kitchen side open. I then added vertical slats to give it a lovely appeal from the living area. Painted a soft sage green keeping the top natural. I added a little platform to the kitchen side for the bin and dog bowls.

Materials

I used unwanted off cuts from Bunnings and the slats are packers from the outside timber yard for free.
only needed screws, glue, paint and bees wax.

Re: Old is new again…

Hi @NolsE,

Another wonderful natural timber top that is complemented beautifully by that soft sage green paint.

Closing the table in to hide the dog bowl and bin gave it a much more polished look, and the vertical battens add some wonderful depth and shape to the build.

A bit of ingenuity with some recycled materials is always fantastic to see. With that coat of paint, you'd never even know.

Thank you for sharing.

Jacob
