Colour match didn't work

Hi there

We just got some paint colour-matched to repair a few worn spots on our 2-PAC kitchen cupboards.

We brought in an offcut from the cabinets (exactly the same colour as the actual cupboards). The paint looked like it was close when it was wet, but now that it's dry, it looks terrible! It is much too dark. We used white undercoat + 2 coats of Dulux waterbased semi-gloss paint, as advised at Bunnings paint counter.

We are very disappointed with the colour-match - how can we get a more accurate match? thanks

Re: Colour match didn't work

Hello @Shan2

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fabulous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about colour matching.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get a good colour match. Unfortunately, one of the most difficult colours to match is the high gloss two-pack spray finish. I realize you've already brought an offcut to the store, but I suggest bringing a door or drawer panel to the store for another try. Bringing the door/drawer panel will give the paint specialist the best possible sample to match. The paint specialist will then ask your permission to test the paint match on a discreet part of the door like the bottom edge. I recommend asking the paint specialist to dry the paint off so that you will see the actual finish. It will probably take a few tries before the paint specialist finds a colour match close to your actual door finish.

Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing your touch up repairs complete.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
