How do I fix a bubble on laminate benchtop?

Bubble in Kitchen Bench Top IMG_4395.jpg

A hot saucepan was accidently placed on the bench top and created a bubble.

Re: How do I fix a bubble in my kitchen benchtop

Hi @Lindsay16,

That's a bit of a tough one, but I have an idea you could try.

I would grab a card, such as your driver's license, and try to work the bubbles so they combine into one.

Once combined, take a sewing needle or something that can create a very small hole in the coating and put a hole in the bubble. You can then pour a small amount of liquid super glue, such as this Loctite Precision Liquid Super Glue, through the hole and put something flat and heavy on top to compress the bubble while the glue sets.

Give it a minute to set, and then remove the weight and clean up any glue that has squeezed out.

Allow me to tag @Noyade, @Nailbag and @JoeAzza to see if they have any ideas.

Let me know what you think.

Re: How do I fix a bubble in my kitchen benchtop

Hi @Lindsay16

I think @JacobZ has essentially the right idea as it’s a difficult problem to resolve.

The bubbling would have caused the vinyl to stretch which means even once glued down to expect some level of creasing.

I would use a glue with some form of needle point applicator. I can’t see one one the Bunnings website but @JacobZ maybe able to. But something like this

Have some nail polish remover on hand to wipe the excess glue that comes out of the hole as you press the bubble down with the edge of a plastic card. Keep working the bubble gentle working from the outside towards the hole.

Good luck and send through an update
