Hello!
I hate the colour of my stone bench tops, I’m planning on changing the cabinets but my style won’t work with the bench top colour so want to know the best way to cover them?
I don’t want to commit to changing them completely right now as it won’t fit our budget.
I know dulux have a reno range, but I’m unsure if it would be possible to use? Or I’ve thought of vinyl /contact paper wrapping them, but worry about the durability.
Thank you for any help!
Hello @keelz
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your stone benchtops.
You're absolutely right, the Dulux Renovation Range unfortunately isn't recommended for use on stone benchtops due to ongoing adhesion issues. I completely understand that this might be a little disappointing if you were hoping for a quick refresh, but it’s definitely worth exploring some alternative options that can give you both a beautiful and lasting result.
One suggestion is to look into replacing the benchtop with a laminated or timber option. You might be pleasantly surprised at how affordable some of these can be. For example, the Specrite 2200 x 600 x 26mm Timber Multi Use Pine Panel available at Bunnings offers a warm, natural timber look at a very reasonable price point. These panels do require proper sealing before installation, especially in a kitchen environment, but with the right finish, they can be both practical and stylish.
From an installation perspective, updating your benchtop now alongside any cabinetry changes can actually make the whole process smoother and more cohesive. It also gives you the chance to choose something that truly suits your style and needs, rather than trying to work around a surface that you are really not keen on.
