How to adjust Kaboodle drawer that wont stay closed?

Gday guys,

moved into this home 10 months ago. Kitchen drawer getting worse. Can he shut very slowly and it stays shut, otherwise opens by itself. Very frustrating!

here is each side of the drawer runner. Is there anything I can adjust to ensure it remains closed?

it is worse with a full drawer.

You might like to take a look at this previous discussion on how to fix soft-close drawers that won't stay closed. There is likely a set of blue clips on the draw runners that could have failed. You could either look at replacing the runners with new ones or speak with our Special Order team in-store, who can put you in touch with our Spare Parts team to see if we can arrange some new parts for replacement.

Hi mate! Thanks for your reply, I have been reading your replies for months now and you have indirectly helped me with a lot!

my drawers don’t seem to be soft close. They all just go in and out as normal without any special feature, however this one needs a very gentle close for it to stay closed. Would this post still be useful? I may take it apart and see if it is different to the others.

I think it would still be useful in the sense of troubleshooting @jjgarth. The only real way to determine what is causing the issue is to pull the drawer out and check the runners to see if anything is broken. It would be helpful to remove another function drawer too to compare.

Potentially, this issue has been there since installation. It might be worth popping a level on the runner to see if it's tilting forward, causing the drawer to self-open.

There's many 0 star reviews on these soft-close runners. Either people are installing them wrong (the instructions are vague), or the product simply doesn't work as advertised. I've adjusted, I've set the soft-closing mechanism to open when installing, then closed. I cannot get the drawer to soft close. As soon as the drawer closes to the point of the soft-close mechanism, it simply won't close any further without force.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Kaboodle Soft Close Drawer runners. Please allow me to propose a few more troubleshooting checks just to see if we can isolate and resolve the issue. If they do not resolve things, then I would be happy to assist you with returning and replacing the runners.

Soft close runners are very sensitive to alignment, so checking that they are level and parallel is critical.

To check that the runners are level, place a small spirit level directly on top of each cabinet runner inside the carcass running front to back, then from one runner to the other. Both runners should read level in both directions. If you do not have a level that fits, measure from the cabinet floor up to the bottom edge of the runner at the front and at the back. The measurement should be exactly the same at both points on each side. Then compare the left side measurement to the right-side measurement. They must match.

To check that the runners are parallel, measure from the inside face of the cabinet side panel to the inside edge of the runner at the very front of the cabinet. Then take the same measurement at the very back. Do this on both sides. The front and back measurements on each side must be identical. Then compare left side to right side. If one side is even a few millimetres closer or further away, the drawer will skew as it closes and bind at the soft close point.

Also check that both runners start at exactly the same position from the front edge of the cabinet. Measure from the cabinet front to the front of each runner. If one is set further back than the other, the drawer will hit the soft close cam on one side before the other and stop instead of engaging smoothly.

Lastly, check for any obvious damage, debris in the runner tracks and ensure screws are not protruding into the slide path. Even small obstructions or damage can stop the soft close cam from travelling properly.

If you run through these troubleshooting steps and do not find anything, I'd suggest you return the soft close runners with your receipt for a refund or replacement. If you need assistance with this, please let me know.
