How to build walk-in pantry for narrow space?

Hi, I've recently bought a house with a small walk in pantry. The space is a bit awkward as it's more triangular in shape. It currently has 2 screwed in basic shelving units which I feel needs to go, and get replaced with new shelving but I'm not sure where to start.

You’ve got a tricky, narrow triangular pantry space. The current shelving units, though basic, actually make the best use of the space, and adding cabinetry along any wall will likely obstruct the entry or make the area feel even more cramped. To improve both function and aesthetics without losing storage, consider replacing the solid unit on the left-hand side (as you enter) with open wall-mounted shelving, which will make the entry feel less claustrophobic while still providing storage. On the right-hand side, you could install high-level shelves above head height for items you don’t need often, keeping the walkway clear. For the triangular areas and corners, custom or angled shelving can help make use of awkward spaces, though this may require more DIY effort.

Ultimately, the key is to decide what’s more important: maximum storage, which would keep the existing layout, or a more open, visually appealing pantry, which may sacrifice some storage. You can enhance the look by painting, adding trim, or using matching open shelves, but trying to fit traditional cabinetry into this space will likely reduce accessibility.
