How to connect dishwasher hose to water supply?

Hi, please i need help connecting my new dishwasher to the water supply. I thought i would be a direct swap from old to new. I seem to be having some issues connecting the hose.

It seems like the extra bit of threaded pipe extruding from the faucet is not compatible with the hise of the new diswaher.

When i connect it and turn it on, water sprays everywhere.

Can i remove the extra bit of the pipe coming out or should i replace the whole faucet? Your help would be very nuch appreciated. Thanks, kenny

It looks to me like you've got the inlet filter pod (from the previous dishwasher inlet hose) stuck in the tap outlet still... a pair of grips/pliers should make short work of that 👍

Hi @ken8 sounds like a plan, below are pictures of my washing machine inlet hose & plumbing fixture (which aren't too different from your arrangement) you will see the plumbing outlet is free of obstructions, just my finger for illustrative purposes 🤣

Just a quick tip you may already know, it's easy to cross thread those plastic hose connections and they can be rather uncooperative, turn the connector in the opposite direction (with upward pressure) and you will feel where it drops into the appropriate thread groove then proceed in the correct direction to fasten, it might take a few attempts but a cross threaded connection will leak.

It looks like @DIYGnome has already solved the issue for you. You can use some multi grip pliers to get the filter out.

I can successfully report that indeed it was the old filter pod and now the new hose is connected ready for the first use. Thanks for the help. Have a good weekend
