How to fill in 50mm gap next to wall oven cabinet?

I have to fill in a 100mm gap to fit a new wall oven in. The old oven is 700mm wide. The new oven 600mm wide

I have two 50mm x50mm x 600 mm long pieces of dressed hardwood.  Can I glue them to the existing cabinet wall

or is it better to screw them to the existing cabinet.

I do not have any photos or video as the old oven is still there.

Re: fill in 50mm gap on both sides wall oven cabinet for a new smaller oven

Hello @Walloven

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your wall oven cabinet.

I suggest aside from using glue, I also suggest installing a Carinya Flat Bracket or similar at the back of the panel so that it will not move even if accidentally leaned on or pushed.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
