How to fix leaking kitchen tap?

My kichen tap has been popping out of the mount and leaking, at first I thought the issue were the o-rings so I replaced all of them. However, whenever I move the tap from left to right it starts to come out of the base and the leaking starts. I believe there is some type of "lock mechanism" that eroded in our of the retainers and I cannot find a replacement for this plastic components.

Do you have any idea on what I could try to prevent the tap from comingour it the base when I move it to the right or left??

Thank you

Re: do i need to replace my kitchen tap?

Hi @Carlos22,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

It looks like you could be missing a grub screw.

If you look in this hole, do you see a tiny little screw head?

If not, then you'll have to replace it with a new one. Depending on whether it is a tap that uses metric parts or imperial parts, you can grab either this Pinnacle M5 - M8 Black Assorted Grub Screw Set or this Pinnacle 3/16 - 3/8" Black Assorted Grub Screw Set.

Once inserted and tightened, your tap should stay in place.

Unfortunately, you would have to use trial and error to find the right one, but whichever one you don't use, you can return it with your receipt.

Let me know how you go.

Re: do i need to replace my kitchen tap?

Hey Jacob

Thanks for the quick reply mate

The hole on the side of the tap doesn't go all the way through, or with time the water corroded it and blocked it.

I noticed that in one of the retainers there is an empty circle, could that be where I put the grub screen? Like in the retainer.

Or

Should I just try to make the hole to go through these base so it breaks the corroded part

Re: do i need to replace my kitchen tap?

Hello @Carlos22

I propose spraying the hole in the side with WD40 to loosen the grub screw. Spray the hole and block it up with a piece of paper towel soaked in WD40. Leave it for about 45 minutes then try moving it again with an Allen key. If you manage to remove it you'll be able to tell which part the grub screw is leaning onto the spout. However, if the grub screw is permanently stuck, I recommend changing your kitchen tap with a new one.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
