We found these white spots in the kitchen timer floor (encircled in red) and wasn't sure how to fix it.
Can we just do a spot treatment rather than removing the whole floor?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @marie0125. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a floor.
The image hasn't come through particularly clearly, so if possible, could you please provide a close-up photo of at least one of the white spots? That will help our community members better understand what’s going on and offer more precise advice.
From what I can see, those spots might be white stains, but it’s more likely they’re areas where the timber has lost its oils, which can leave it looking lighter. Spot treatment can definitely be an option, especially if you know what type of coating or finish was originally applied to the floor.
If your floor is oiled, applying a matching timber oil to those spots could help blend them back in and disguise the damage. If your floor has a hard coating, which is less likely to have worn off in just spots, you might still be able to patch those areas carefully.
That said, for the most even and long-lasting result, sanding back the whole affected area and recoating it is usually the best way to restore a consistent finish. You’re thinking along the right lines, and with a little more info, we can help guide you to the best fix — you’re on the right track!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
