We renovated this kitchen over 3 years ago and specifically left this space for a dishwasher if we wanted to add one.
Now that we want to install one I would like it to be built-under like our oven but I’m not sure if it can be installed while keeping the baseboard intact.
We still need to remove the bottom and sides of this area - any recommendations on that are welcome.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @holzie. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a dishwasher.
The first thing to check is the measurements. Could you let us know the dimensions of the dishwasher you’re looking at and the dimensions of your current void in the cabinetry?
If the dishwasher is taller than the available space, you may need to trim or adjust the baseboard to make it fit. If it’s shorter, you’ll likely need to add a filler panel above or around it so it looks neat and secure in the opening.
If you haven’t purchased the dishwasher yet and want to keep the baseboard intact, I’d suggest measuring the available space carefully and then choosing a dishwasher that’s the same height (or slightly shorter). That way, you can slot it in without major modifications, and any small gaps can be finished off with filler panels for a clean, built-in look.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
