Morning all,
Taking advantage of the long weekend to get to some tasks around the house done and need some advice about installing a dishwasher. The existing kitchen has no dishwasher or space in the cabinets for one but it is something we'd like so want to see if it is feasible to sit the dishwasher next to the cabinets that sit next to the sink. Wed then drill some holes through the cabinets to run the hose/pipes, distance would be about 1.4m from edge of cabinet to the drainage pipe. More importantly though, is it possible to connect a dishwasher up to the plumbing shown in the pictures? Is this a DIY task or something that we'll need to get a professionally in to do?
Appreciate any feedback!
Cheers.
Hello @shaneaoz
Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.
Thanks for sharing your question about your dishwasher installation. Due to the distance you mentioned, it will be necessary to get a plumber to link your inlet and outlet pipes to your existing plumbing network. The sinks waste trap will need to be disassembled so that the plumber can get access to the copper pipes. They will need to cut and solder onto the existing line to connect a new tap for your dishwasher.
The good news is that your sink trap has an existing nipple that the plumber can link onto and that they don't have to upgrade anything else. It will be necessary to attach extension pieces to your dishwashers hoses due to the distance you've mentioned. My best advice is to check the stores Dishwasher Installation Service and see if they can accommodate your extra needs in the installation.
