I work at a school, we have limited space and budget, but recently were given two new ftree standing ovens. I found a bench, and a top. and am putting it all together, but the trial run has thrown up the problem of the oven warming up the fridge. There's no other way to lay it out, so I need to insulate, but what is the best, and safest material?
OK, my question threw up a similar post, Hardie board, cement fibre, seems lilke a plan, unless anyone has a better idea?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @UKTadger. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about insulating a fridge.
In situations like this, the two key things to aim for are a non-combustible barrier and some form of air gap. A sheet of fibre cement (Hardie board) fixed between the oven and the fridge is a good option because it won’t burn and it resists heat transfer. If you can manage to leave even a small gap of air between the oven and the board, or between the board and the fridge, it will make a big difference by stopping direct heat transfer. Even a few millimetres helps. Ideally, you’d have both: a non-combustible board plus that small air space.
Ensure you reference the ovens installation instructions when positioning the board and observe any setbacks required.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
