We originally had drawers here and replaced them with a dishwasher. The installer cut the kickboard even though this dishwasher is a built-under and was meant to have the kickboard preserved. What can we do to make it look seamless without filling and sanding the seams because the wood itself isn’t level so it’ll look uneven.
I was thinking of either adding a thin ply wood or something straight across and cut out a bit from the top to allow for the dishwasher to open and add some sort of laminate or paint to make it look like one piece? Or would it be cheaper to take out all the e and completely replacing it?

Hi @holzie,
You could consider adding a thin piece of ply or something similar across the front, but honestly, that’s more of a temporary fix. Even if you paint or laminate it, it’s unlikely to match the rest of the cabinetry perfectly.
The best approach would be to replace the whole kickboard section and cut it to fit around the dishwasher properly. Most kickboards are attached with clips along the bottom edge, so in many cases, you can just pop the old one off once any silicone or sealant is removed, and then replace it with a new section that matches the rest of your kitchen. This will give you a seamless, professional finish without having to worry about uneven surfaces or mismatched paint.
