Hello,
I’m planning on installing BOTKYRKA shelves from ikea on a brick wall. They are powder coated steel and are quite large (80cmx20cm) and heavy in weight.
I have the Ramset wall plugs (7mmx25mm) and zenith sheet metal self tapper pan head screws (10gx25mm).
Would these screws be long enough to support its weight? Or should I be getting longer or different screws?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Hi @juju6286492,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
It is always best to check with the manufacturer of the product to ensure it is installed correctly to a standard that meets or exceeds their requirements. For this reason, I will recommend a solution, but you should confirm it with the manufacturer of the product.
When mounting things on walls, it is always best to go with larger fixings, and unfortunately, yours are not what I would suggest as they are fairly short. I'd instead suggest using Ramset 7 x 50mm Green Wall Plugs with either these 50mm Black Round Timber Screws or 50mm Pan Head Screws. The plugs are larger in diameter and longer, so they will have much more contact area with the brick, and thus a stronger hold. The screws are longer but still fit the same head profile as recommended.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
