what can i use to protect mdf ? I would love a clear finish for my kitchen cupboard doors and drawer
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kimduncan. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about coating MDF.
You can absolutely give MDF a clear protective finish. A simple option is to apply a polyurethane varnish, which will seal the surface and protect it from both wear and water ingress. For best results, make sure you coat the panel on all sides and edges, not just the front face. Apply at least two coats, sanding lightly between them, so there are no exposed access points for moisture. That way, your cupboard doors and drawers will stay looking good and resist swelling or damage over time.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
