How to rejuvenate laminate benchtop?

I’ve moved back into my apartment and the tenants were clearly cutting directly on the kitchen counter resulting in parts of the bench top that are now dull. It otherwise looks fine but the dulness is quite obvious (to me) when the light hits certain way.
is there some some of sealant/varnish I could paint on top to resto
re the shine and also protect it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: How to rejuvenate laminate benchtop?

Hello @Caro67

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laminate benchtop.

The majority of the laminate polish that the store carries is geared mostly for laminated flooring. I'm afraid that they are not food safe and not meant for benchtop use. However, a safe alternative is to use Glitz 200g Beeswax Polish, its non-toxic and provides a lasting shine. It is possible to buff the surface to a high finish, but the bees wax will need to be applied periodically to maintain the shine.

Another option is to engage the services of a professional benchtop restorer. They will have the materials and technique to restore your benchtop to its original lustre.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
