Re: No isolation valve?

Hello @DeeDee44

Thanks for sharing your question about your isolation valve. Yes, you are correct there are no isolation valves connected to your wall outlet, I suggest turning off the mains water at the front of the house if you wish to work on your tapware.

I've placed an image below to give you a general idea of how the tap is assembled. The plastic cover must be removed in order for you get access to the brass locking nut. This will allow you to pull out the defective cartridge. I suggest bringing it with you so that you can compare it to the replacement piece at the store. Once you find a compatible cartridge the re-assembly will be in reverse.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @EricL

Thank you for your reply.

Could you please advise how to remove the cartridge? I’ve attached a photo of the plastic cartridge and also a photo with both tap handles removed. It’s a gooseneck side mixer, with the right side for normal tap water (which is the side that has a slow leak) and the left side for the water filtration system.

Thank you

Re: No isolation valve?

Hi @EricL

After a youtube video, a flathead screw driver and a mallet I was finally able to remove the ring that holds the cartridge.

Thank you for your help

Re: No isolation valve?

Hi @EricL

I’m sorry to bother you once again. But I was just wondering if all taps would have the additional locking nut? And since mine doesn’t seem to, could that also be part of the reason why it’s dripping?

Thanks in advance

Re: No isolation valve?

Hello @DeeDee44

I can only hypothesize on what the locking nut is for your tapware. I'm only aware of the most common one which is the brass locking nut. It's possible that your tap employs a different type of locking mechanism. If you can post a few photos of what the other side looks like I can try and assess the fixture and possibly offer recommendations on how to unlock it. But if it is too complex or requires non-standard tools, I suggest engaging the services of a plumber to either remove and repair or totally replace the tapware.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
