We dropped a heavy pan on the kitchen floor which has chipped and cracked a floor tile. I was hoping to do a temporary repair to improve the aesthetic and prevent further cracking. Is this feasible with its high gloss finish?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ecam. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a tile.
The damage to the tile does look fairly significant, and while a temporary repair is possible, achieving a seamless finish, especially with a high-gloss tile, will be quite difficult. You could fill the chipped section with a two-part epoxy filler and carefully colour match it using enamel paint, but it’s unlikely to fully disappear, and matching that reflective finish is particularly tricky.
If the goal is mainly to stop it from getting worse and tidy the appearance, this approach will help. For now, you might also consider placing a mat or rug over the area to discreetly hide the damage until you're ready to replace the tile entirely, which would be the most effective long-term fix.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
