How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket?

G'day folks - I have a kitchen drawer bracket that is broken, and I can't see any brackets at Bunnings or on the web that look like they would be an exact fit for the construction of the metal drawer side. I reckon the drawer is about 18 to 20 years old. Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement bracket, or tell me where I could take this drawer to get someone to fix it please?  I uploaded a photo of the broken one, and the4 good one on the other side of the drawer.

Thanks!

Greg

Re: How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket

Hi @gregjb,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

It looks like you have drawers that are very similar to the METABOX system from our supplier Blum.

I believe these Blum Front Fixing Brackets for METABOX will work with your drawers. I'd suggest taking the damaged bracket with you in-store to check the sizing, but it looks likely they will work.

Check out How to fix the drawer bracket where a similar issue was discussed. There may be some further information you can use.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket

Thanks Jacob. I tried the Blum bracket and it almost fitted, but the little lug on the drawer that is where the bracket clips in clashes with a raised piece on the bracket. I might be able to modify the bracket to fit, but I am not sure.

Is there anywhere else I can take this drawer to be fixed?

Re: How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket

Hello @gregjb

I'm not sure if there are any other compatible clips in that size, especially if the drawer is that old. One other option that comes to mind is to drill through the clip and the metal side of the drawer and use a permanent nut and bolt set to hold the drawer from permanently in place. However, it is very important that you drill the hole in the correct spot making sure that the drawer front is level with the other side of the drawer front. You can then glue the clip cover to make it look like it is still attached using the traditional clips.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket

Thanks, it might have come to that - but I did find modern Harn brackets that are compatible with the 20 year old ones. The Blum ones were close but did not fit. Searching the web for Harn Impaz drawer brackets turned up some results and I have the issue fixed now.

Re: How to replace old kitchen drawer bracket

Hello @ab1

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.

Let me tag @gregjb to make them aware of your query. I'm sure you've had a chance to read the suggestions in the discussion. Should you find it difficult to find spares, I still strongly suggest fixing the drawer brackets in place permanently with a nut and bolt assembly.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
