How to save damaged laminate kitchen cupboards?

Trying to do an easy refresh of the kitchen. Would there be products to save these old doors and cupboards or would they need to be replaced?

Re: How to save damaged laminate kitchen cupboards?

Hello @KateC86

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laminate kitchen cupboards.

These appear to be long term water damage from extended water soaking on the surface of the panel. In regards to the repair options it all depends on what you would like to do. Can the lifting laminate be glued back on? I'm afraid not as these pieces might have started to get brittle and pushing them back on might break them off. Can it be patched with another laminate substance? Getting a similar pattern will be extremely difficult and will not be cost effective.

What can be done? There is the option of stripping the laminate off the doors and panels and painting the raw boards to a new colour. Another is to cut off the damaged laminate portions and using fillers to level the surface. The doors and panels can then be painted with laminate paint an example of which is the Dulux Renovation Range. Other than that, there is the option of full door and panel replacement with the Kaboodle kitchen door range. You just need to take measurements of the doors that you have and see if the Kaboodle set is compatible with it.
