I have a draft coming from under my kitchen sink, the hole where the drain goes out is too large resulting in air coming up from inside the wall cavity. What is the best way to seal it up either permanently or temporarily?
Hi @threemonkeys,
Could we please trouble you for a photo so members can see how large the gap is and provide the most appropriate advice?
Thanks,
Jason
The pipe is a fairly wide diameter and goes to the outside of the building, I can see a tiny bit of daylight inside the hole because it isn't sealed up very well on the outside either. Is there a sleeve or something I could put around the pipe without having to undo it or would I just fill it with foam? At the moment I've got a rag squished in it to stop the draft.
Hello @threemonkeys
That is quite a gap in your wall, I suggest using Parfix 340g Expanding Foam Filler. Attach the straw tot he can and push the straw as deep as you can into the gap and slowly fill the gap with foam while pulling the can out slowly. The slow release will guarantee that the foam is spread evenly and all over the gap. Please keep in mind that the foam will expand to three times its size. I suggest being careful and not to overfill the gap. Once the foam has expanded and cured you can trim it using a snap off knife.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when using the spray.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
