Hello all,

Is changing a kitchen tap like this one to a different mixer doable yourself?

I’m not wanting any plumbing fixtures altered, I was hoping for a simple swap.

I’ve tried to get photos of all of the related fittings under the sink.

If possible by a confident DIYer, can anyone recommend a specific mixer from Bunnings that I can install most easily?

I'm wanting a taller more modern mixer - bonus points if it has a pull out hose bit.

is there anything in particular I should look for when buying one to install with my current setup/fittings?

appreciate any help! 😊

Re: installing a kitchen mixer

Hi @ElaineBenes,

Yes, changing a mixer tap is certainly doable by yourself.

You might want to quickly have a read of the response I just made in How to remove tap from bathroom sink as it will tell you how to remove your existing tap.

All mixer taps should come with a set of installation instructions that are very similar to those I mentioned in this post. The process to reinstall a tap will be more or less what is shown.

The main thing you will need to look out for is the size of the mounting hole in your basin. The typical mounting hole size for a kitchen or basin mixer tap is 35mm. When your tap is removed, make sure you check this before selecting a new one. It is fairly likely it will be 35mm, but if not, please let me know so I can assist further.

Some good options based on your description include the Estilo 35mm Chrome Side Lever Pull Down Sink Mixer WELS 5 Star 6L/min, Caroma WELS 5 Star Rated, 6.0L/min Chrome Husk Retractable Dual Spray Sink Mixer and the Mondella WELS 5 Star 6L/min Chrome Rococo Pull Down Sink Mixer.

Let me know what you think.

Jacob
