My old rangehood had seen better days, but it still worked ok. Rather than rip it out and replace it, I used appliance spray paint to give it a new lease on life.
Steps
Step 1
Clean the rangehood to remove any grease and grime and as much old paint as possible.
Step 2
Tape up around the edges and over any buttons or areas you don't want to be silver.
Tape newspaper to the surrounding cupboards to protect from overspray.

Step 3
Spray two coats of paint, allowing to dry between each coat.
If necessary a third coat can be applied to get a nice, thick, even coverage

Step 4
Once dry, remove the tape and newspaper carefully.
I had a little bit of paint that snuck it's way onto the cupboard, but I was painting those later anyway.
