I have purchased an Everdure counter top dishwasher from Bunnings but no one could tell me what fittings I need to connect it to a kitchen tap. I would appreciate any help please
Hello @aloron
Welcome to Bunnings Workshop! Would it be possible to take a photo of the sink tap you are trying to connect to. As there are many types and there is no one size fits all. This will allow us to better identify the parts that you will need to connect your counter top dish washer. Thanks!
Cheers,
Red
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @aloron. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for your enquiry about countertop dishwasher connections.
It's great to see @redracer01 if on the case, and we look forward to seeing those images of your tap spout so we can provide a solution.
You might be interested in reading through these discussions on @gilberttang's Benchtop dishwasher installation and @MinB's Benchtop dishwasher tap connections. They both successfully connected their benchtop dishwashers.

@redracer01 @MitchellMc,
Hi @aloron,
After reading through the manual for this machine, it has a 3/4 screw hose connector. We'll need to convert your existing spout. If you use the threaded section of this sink adaptor which is 15mm, and a Kinetic 20 x 15mm Brass Threaded Hex Reducing Bush, that should give you a 3/4 inch thread to screw your hose onto. You'll need some thread tape when joining these threaded sections.
I would just like to double-check first with @redracer01 whether the 20mm thread is equivalent to 3/4 inch or if he has any other suggestions.
Yes @MitchellMc s recommendations are perfect and they should allow you to install your dishwasher hose on to the tap. Although it says 3/4 it is set to Australian standards and should fit. I suppose strictly speaking a 3/4 Imperial should not work with a 20mm metric but a lot people use the term 3/4 to refer to dishwasher and washing machine hoses, which when tested on 20mm fittings work! However if for some reason it does not work please post your question here on workshop and we will try to answer it as best we can.
Here is a suggested diagram for you when connecting the dish washer to the sink tap. Hope it helps.
Cheers.
Thank you that will be a great help
@aloron
Also, make sure to have extra rubber seals, washers or rings of various sizes on hand. I found this stopped leakages as well in a major way. I didn't end up needing the tape after buying it as I reworked those rubber washers to see how that would go. Maybe just a little around the area the aerator would have been.
You will find that the water will run hard and strong without an aerator so be prepared. I bought a hand sprayer which has worked out really well so far and I have no regrets getting it.
The thread is inside the tap. The aerator has a male thread. Can you get an adapter with with a male thread?
I am just trying to help a family with disabled children and they live in a rental house. I just want to make their lives a bit easier. The landlord will not let them make alterations so I need to do this as portable as possible.
Sorry to be such a nuisance but would you recommend that I get a plumber to do all this work. I have been to three different Bunnings stores and no body can help so I appreciate your advice.
In the kinetic packet is a male to male adapter. The middle item in the kinetic packet. You will have to test it and see if it will fit. You can then attache the third item and proceed with the install as seen on my diagram. If the sizes are not fitting we will have to try something else.
Hello Red, thank you for your help but I have one more question. The Everdure has two hoses which one should I use. Should there be a connection for two hoses or can this machine heat it’s own water.
The hose for the dishwasher is the one with a wide plastic attachment. The other one is the exit pipe. The unit makes its own hot water. Below is a picture of the hose that will need to be attached to the kitchen tap.
Can you please post a photo of the hoses ends.
Thanks
I do not have the dishwasher at my home. It is at the family home where it is to be installed. From what I remember it has the same hoses and connections as a clothes washing machine. Just a screw on connection. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
It's ok, on the day you try to install it make sure to take photos of the items that work and don't work so I can give you better information regarding the fitting. Oh and please post the model number of the dishwasher so I can get more info about its model and type. Good luck and stay safe.
Hello Red, can I install one of these to the dishwasher hoses. I am not able to purchase the Kinetic adapters that have been suggested. No Bunnings near my home have stock, The advice from Bunnings staff is “I don’t know”. Would you please advise me if Bunnings sell this product and what is the correct name please? I had one of these attachments on an old benchtop dishwasher years ago and it was very easy to manage. Could it also work on a freestanding dishwasher?
Thank you again for your advice,
Regards,
aloron
Let me mention @redracer01, so he is alerted to your question. Personally, I have never seen that fitting on offer.
Hello @aloron My apologies that you did not get advice from the team at the store. The item you have posted is a counter top dishwasher adapter from electrolux and can only be purchased online, it is not available at the store. However I'm not sure if it has any fittings that will allow you to connect to that goose neck sink mixer. My only other suggestion is to use a Holman 15mm Plain Tap Adaptor With Clamp . Please remember to use a tool to tighten the clamp on to the spout to avoid it from slipping out. Then connect a Pope 12mm Swivel Hose Connector . On the dishwasher inlet hose end connect a Nylex 12mm British Sprinkler Adapter then insert it in to the bottom end of the swivel hose connector. Once you see the parts you will know what I am describing. Can you tell me which branch you went to? I only ask so that I may speak to their plumbing specialist and perhaps he or she can offer advice for your connections. Other than that your other options are to connect to a different tap that has a standard aerator fitting on it. You will have to use a hose to connect to but at least it leaves the kitchen tap free to be used for something else. Change the kitchen tap to one that has a standard aerator fitting on it. Last option is to connect from the cold line inside the cabinet at the bottom of the sink. But at this junction I'm afraid its time to call in a professional and ask a plumber to connect a tap under the sink that is dedicated for the dishwasher. There is one more option that I just remembered and that is if you can wait for the kinetic tap adapter to be ordered at the special orders desk. It will then be specially ordered for you and you can give the kinetic adapter a try. Please keep us updated with your progress.
Order this at the special orders desk to be sure one is put aside for you!
Thank you again, I went to Springvale and Nottinghill. The young girl at Nottinghill was no help, even though one of the girls sitting with her said she was an expert in dishwashers.
I also went to Dandenong and Keysborough but no one could spare the time to help and I wasn’t going to wait. I have purchased a kinetic adapter kit from Sydney. A lot dearer but I will have it by Monday with the covid lockdown I might have waited longer purchasing it from Bunnings. Thank you again, it’s nice to have someone that can give me some advice.
regards,
Hi Red sorry that I haven’t returned your message. I have now got the Kinetic Aerator Kit.
How do you install the clip on part to enable the dishwasher hose to be taken off the tap when the tap is used for general use? Does it have to be unscrewed all the time?
I can’t see anything in the pack that connects to a hose to join the clip on attachment together. Can you help please? And now that we can’t go to Bunnings where canI get anything to help.
Regards aloron
Let me mention @redracer01, so he is alerted to your question.
To easily disconnect your dishwasher, I believe @redracer01 suggested connecting the Kinetic Adaptor Aerator Kit, which will give you a click-on connector on your tap. This will stay there permanently. You'll then screw a Nylex 12mm British Sprinkler Adaptor into the end of your dishwasher hose. A Pope 12mm Swivel Hose Connector will be used to join those two male click-on connectors together. This allows the dishwasher hose to be easily disconnected when not in use. I've added an image below to illustrate.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
If you look at @MitchellMc 's diagram that is how it is suppose to be connected together. However if you do not have the necessary parts you will have to screw the dishwasher hose on and off every time you use it. But if you have the Pope swivel connector you can just unclip the hose like an ordinary garden hose. Hopefully you will be able to go out again when the lock down has finished and then you will be able to get the parts. Let me think on it and see if we can reconfigure it in another manner.
Hi @redracer01, we were able to install the dishwasher on Sunday. I purchased the parts and it was easy. I only used the click on part from the Kinetic Aerator Kit, attached it to the gooseneck tap then attached it to the Pope12mm Swivel Hose Connector, then the British12mm Sprinkler Adapter, then it screwed onto the dishwasher hose.
Thank you for your patience and advice. It took awhile but the machine is now useable.
Does Bunnings sell anything to secure the drain hose to stop it from spraying water everywhere? Remembering that the landlord won’t permit drilling any holes into walls.
Thank you again, regards, aloron
Can we confirm that you'd like something to secure the drain hose inside the sink area? Unless you are going to mount a bracket inside the sink for the hose to attach to, the only other option I can think of would be weighing down the hose when it is in the sink. Or perhaps something on the end of the hose that could hook onto the sink drain.
Let me mention @MinB, who also has a benchtop dishwasher, to see if they have the same issue with the hose spraying water everywhere when draining.
That is fantastic! Is there a chance you can take a photo of the finished assembly and post it here? One of the ways to secure the exit hose is to zip tie it to the goose neck sink mixer itself. In that manner the hose will always point down. You can also fill a 1 liter container with water preferably a round shape not too big and you can zip tie the exit hose to this container making sure the hose points down. You then place it next to the sink where the water will exit in to the sink. It totally slipped my mind that the exit hose needed to be secure as well. I'm glad you finally have it working and I hope the family that you helped can now use the appliance properly. If there is anything else that I can help you with please post your questions here on workshop.
@redracer01 about connecting the exit/drain hose using zip ties. I rent and am looking at buying a dishwasher, but I am a bit concerned about what happens if something goes wrong and it flops over onto the floor. Any suggestions?
Hi @Renovator
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. Thanks for joining the discussion.
One other option to using zip ties is to use Velcro straps. This will let you take it on and off the kitchen faucet. If you are worried that the exit hose will slide off the sink, you can use a Grunt 20mm x 40cm Versa Strap.
You can also attach a plastic barbed elbow to the end of the exit hose so that the water is directed down and not sideways.
Let me call on our experienced members @TedBear and @JoeAzza for their recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Hi @Renovator another suggestion would be to tie a 1- 2 kg weight to the end of the hose, this would ensure that the hose is weighted done onto the base of the sink, which can be easily removed as required .
you buy a cheap eight from Kmart or Big W or similar type of store.
