The manufacturer uses posture sprung wooden slats for their bed frames. These are curved upwards to increase the longevity of the mattress.

I've contacted Tommy Swiss to ask about how the base is constructed on the Arch Double Charcoal Bed Frame with Four Storage Drawers.
