Re: how do i get the seal back into this glass sliding door

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @douglasbrown. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a door seal.

I'm really sorry, but it's quite hard to make out from the image exactly where the seal is and how it's come loose, which makes it tricky to offer specific advice.

Generally speaking, the rubber seals on sliding glass doors like these are either pushed onto the edge of the glass or inserted into the aluminium frame. In many cases, the seal is positioned first and then held in place when the frame is assembled around the glass. If that’s the case here, and it’s worked its way loose, it may not be possible to push it back in—you might need to partially disassemble the frame to get it back in place correctly.

If it won’t budge or seems like it was originally installed before the frame went on, trying to force it could damage the glass. Since it’s a glass panel, I’d strongly recommend wearing full PPE—safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and enclosed footwear—before attempting any further work.

If you struggle to fix the issue it might be worth enlisting the service of a glazier to assist.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
