How to add a shelf across wardrobe?

I have two of these towers and haave had them cut down to 1845cm height to match the pre-existing and installed batten on the side. What is the best way to install a shelf so it lines up with this and looks like a continuous shelf the whole way across?

The photos are from when the cupboards were 2m height

I think I know what you are after... 🙂

See that support on the very left up near the top of the first photo?

I propose installing one further down at the height of the contionuios shelf, then on the right where the tower is, install another support (40mm by 20mm timber strip is good) Make sure they line up with one of the shelve sin your tower. Then do the same on the other side of the built ins. I would be tempted to slide the two towers so they are side by side even tho the door will block a little of the shelf. 🙂

Timber strip supports would be cheapest. with a piece of pine/melamine shelves that sits on the trim. To make the new shelf stronger you could run some more of the 20mm by 40mm pine aling the back of teh shelf itself on the underside. This will stop the shelf flexing/bowing so easily. I would screw through the shelf into the support strip. (The shelf will look liek an L shape afterwards.)

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about adding a shelf in your wardrobe.

It's great that you've received excellent advice from @Dave-1. Will that be the permanent position of the wardrobe insert cabinet? Will you be moving it to the left or right? Are you after just a single shelf and will you be installing a wardrobe bar across the space? I agree with Dave's suggestion on how to install the extra shelf. My only additional suggestion is to use a spirit level to make sure that the shelf is level.
