Hi
Bought an Ikonic privacy handle for 35 to 45mm doors . My door is 35mm thick. However the spindle is stuck at 45 mm, how do i get the handles to fit together to 35mm?
I also tried pulling out the little screws on the handle with the allen key, but the spindle doesnt go far enough into the handle.
Hello @HandyUser59
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door handle.
If I recall correctly the default gap size of this door knob is set to 35mm and is supposed to be self-adjusting. I propose trying to install the unit first without changing any of its settings. You should notice that as you tighten the installation screws, it will pull the lever assembly closer together until they are at the default 35mm. Should your door be thicker the extended screws of the door lever will compensate for the size difference. You'll also notice that the centre axle is fully extended all the way to the other lever handle. This is built to compensate for thicker doors.
I suggest having a quick look at the installation manual that came with the door lever. I recommend following the basic steps on the manual and see if it will self-adjust.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
