How to build a wall desk?

My planMy planWebsite exampleWebsite example

I am planning to build a Merbau panel desk under the window. Size:220cm*60cm. Please advise me how can I built it and what could I buy?

I bought the Merbau panel: https://www.bunnings.com.au/specrite-2200-x-600-x-26mm-merbau-panel_p8330163

Maybe I need this to allow the panel lay on the two wall faces?

Please advise me how can I connect the and keep the desk stable, and what could I buy? Thank you so much.

Re: How to build a wall desk

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Chengxiaoqiao. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a floating desk.

Using Metal Mate 32 x 32 x 1.5mm 0.6m Slotted Black Angle fixed horizontally onto the wall to support both sides of the timber panel could work. However, that won't offer much support to the front edges of the desk. You'd be better off with Carinya 380 x 380 x 40 x 6mm Galvanised Heavy Duty Angle Brackets or preferably one with a stay like these Carinya 500 x 300 x 40mm Heavy Duty Galvanised Twisted Stay Brackets. Using a bracket with a diagonal stay will ensure no flex over the panel's 600mm depth. This flex will be particularly evident if you lean on the front edge of the desk or put heavy items on it.

You might like to check out some of the other floating desk projects our members have put together.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to build a wall desk

Hello MitchellMc,

Thank you so so much for your advice. And thank you the staff in bunnings for recommending me a very light drill set.

All done and looks cool. Yes, Angle brackets are more stable. So I used 4 Angle brackets instead of the Slotted Angle. The panel is 30kg.  I am excited to upload some photos to you to share this and ask for your advice. It is really beautiful and easy to clean without legs. Do you think is this stable enough?
