How to fill various house settling gaps?

I've got various gaps showing up after a house renovation about 6 yrs ago. Time to fill the gaps....I've been told. In the shed I have Spackling and Polyfilla. Are these suitable at all for filling these gaps in a permanent way or is there a better product for all or the various cracks?

I've seen posts on how to fill the gaps at the joins, but some advice on how to fix the plasterboard / door frame crack would be helpful.

Re: How to fill various house settling gaps?

Hello @Ritar

Thanks for sharing your question about filling the various gaps in your house.

The fillers you've indicated in your post will work on all the gaps you've mentioned except the window. For your window, I suggest using Selleys 300ml 760 White Interior Neutral Cure Silicone. It's safe to use on painted timber surfaces and powder coated aluminium.

To remove the old silicone, I recommend using CornerTape Standard Silicon Remover. It will make the removal of silicone much easier and will not scratch out the aluminium surface of the window.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to fill various house settling gaps?

Hi Eric

I have been trying to get the Selleys 300ml 760 White Neutral Cure Silicone..... it's out of stock everywhere except way out at Northmead. I rang my local store. and they said the product is suspended and unsure whether they will get the product in the near future.

Do you have another recommendation that would also work to adhere to the uPVC windows and plasterboard?

Re: How to fill various house settling gaps?

Hello @Ritar

My apologies that the product is not available at your location, the other options are Sika 300ml White SikaSeal Kitchen And Bathroom Silicone Sealant and Crommelin White WP Plus Silicone. I also suggest speaking to your stores paint specialist and asking them if there are other Neutral cure white sealers that are in stock.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

I've been put on to use Selleys Roof and Gutter. Do you agree with that?

Hello @Ritar

Yes, Selleys Roof and Gutter will work and is noncorrosive as well.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to silicone seal a bath (the techniques used are applicable to your project)
