How to fix Ikonic passage lever opening door upwards and not downwards?

I installed the ikonic passage lever ok. It shuts properly. Opens properly. But to open the door I have to pull lever upwards and not down. Is there a solution for this?

Re: lever opens door upwards and not downwards

Hello @Homebody

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door handle.

You've done excellent work in installing the handle on your door. I suspect that you've accidentally swapped the handles position. I propose taking the door handle off and swapping positions put the outside one in and the inside one out. By swapping positions the lever should now work properly.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: lever opens door upwards and not downwards

Hi @EricL and @Homebody,

I have actually been asked a few times by people 'Can we open the door(s) by pushing the handle up?' because they have smart dogs that have worked it all out - put paw on handle, push down, pull a bit and then use snout to complete entry procedure.

@Homebody is that a Golden Retriever on the right?

Cheers

Thanks for your help Eric. I reversed handles as you suggested and it worked.

Re: lever opens door upwards and not downwards

No, just a cross terrier of some sort. Just a medium sized dog and she’s too old to jum. 15 1/2 years old.

Hi Eric,

What if you are using an entry set?

I have the same problem but can't switch handles for obvious reasons.

Hello @sebbel

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.

If you can't switch handles, I'm afraid it will have to work with the lever being in the lift up position. Unfortunately, there are no switches or levers that can be modified inside the handle itself to change the direction of the hand lever.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks Eric for the reply.

I was hoping not to hear that. Package does say suits right & left handed doors.

I don't think I can live with that, so may need to return them.

Re: lever opens door upwards and not downwards

Hello @sebbel

I suggest speaking to the hardware team member in the store and asking them for a door lever that will be installed on the left side of the door. However, if none are available, I propose thinking about using a standard knob handle rather than a lever set.
