How do I fix drawer runners so a Lugna 758mm cabinet? The slider is clearly not long enough
Hi @Morgz,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
I can't seem to find a Lugna 758mm cabinet; however, looking at a similar Lugna cabinet that uses drawer slides, these do not appear to be the correct size for that panel.
Can you advise which specific cabinet you have purchased so I can double-check the instructions? There should be a model number on the box. Otherwise, the receipt will show an item number that I can search by.
If we confirm that these are indeed the incorrect size and there is no detail that we've missed in the instructions, I'd suggest heading to the store of purchase and speaking with the Special Orders team, who will be able to assist you with replacing this part with the correct one.
Please let me know what cabinet you have before doing this so I can confirm we haven't missed something.
Jacob
Hi Jacobz, thank you for the response. The relevant measurement is actually the depth of the cabinet at 580mm. Sorry about the pic orientation.
.
Hi @Morgz,
Did you purchase some Lugna Sand External Drawers To Suit 750 x 580mm Cabinet Shell as well as the cabinet shell?
I note that these drawers come in depths of both 580mm and 380mm. I suspect what has happened is that you've got a drawer, or possibly just the runner, for a 380mm cabinet as opposed to the 580mm cabinet.
Does this sound like a plausible reason to you?
If the drawer itself is the wrong size, you would have to return it to the store of purchase and speak with the Special Orders team to return your drawer and order a replacement in the correct size.
If the runner for a smaller drawer has been included, they'll also be able to order you a replacement part.
Let me know if you need any assistance with this or if you feel this is not what is going on, so I can investigate further.
Jacob
Hi Jacob,
I think you have identified the problem. The drawer is a Drawer Scallop Lugna++253X750X500MM Sand; Item no. 0430505.
This suggests that a slider for a smaller drawer has been included. I will revert to the Special Orders team at my local store to try and get a replacement.

Hello @Morgz
Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing your drawer runner installed properly.

Hi Eric,
I did visit my local Bunnings Special Orders desk and they ordered a replacement set of sliders for the 580mm deep cabinets. I also mentioned that I had two 2048X600X580 Cabinets and two 253X600X500 Scallop Drawers still in their boxes. Thought I would have to be unlucky if both of these drawer sets also had 380mm sliders. As you can see from the photos below, that is the case, unless there are no 380mm sliders and I need to drill an extra hole for each slider. If the latter, I would appreciate instructions/guidance on placement and drill size.
Regards Morgz
Hello @Morgz
To quickly and accurately determine the location of the second screw hole for a drawer runner, begin by securing the front end of the runner with the first screw. This acts as a fixed pivot point. With the front firmly in place, place a small spirit level on top of the runner to ensure it sits perfectly horizontal. Adjust the back of the runner until the bubble in the level is centered. While holding the runner steady in this level position, use a pencil to mark the location of the second hole at the rear.
Once marked, remove the level and carefully drill a pilot hole at the marked spot. Ensure the drill bit is appropriately sized, small enough to allow the screw to grip securely but large enough to prevent the timber from splitting. Avoid using a drill bit that’s too wide, as it may prevent the screw from anchoring properly into the timber panel or cabinet wall. Once the pilot hole is ready, drive in the second screw to secure the runner in place.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
