How to fix broken plaster around window - brick wall?

I was attempting to remove old wall plugs from previously installed blinds prior to painting when I accidentally chipped off a chunk of plaster from our brick walls. I was just looking for some advice on how to fix it as I haven't seen any for repairing damage on a corner around a window. I've attached some photos of the affected spot.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

The first thing you'll want to do is chip off the piece on the left where it has cracked as it is not solidly attached to the surface beneath.

Once it has been removed, you can trim the plug so that it sits below the surface. If you'd like to do the same with the other, feel free to break off some more of the mortar, as you will be filling it anyway.

When everything has been prepared, you can use a mortar product like Concremate to fill the area, using a tool like this Kango Stainless Joint Knife to apply it. You can likely shape that nice, curved edge with the joint knife, but originally it was probably done with a curved trowel like this Hyde 73 x 152mm Render Edger. You can likely get by without it, but if you're not confident, it might be worthwhile grabbing one.

You'll want to leave the Concremate about 1-2mm lower than the finished surface, as it won't give you a nice smooth finish like the wall. If you wanted to match the walls' smoothness, you would need to use something like this Gyprock Less Mess Topping Compound to achieve the finer finish.

Once the plaster has dried, give it a light sand with a sanding sponge, being careful not to remove that gentle curve. Once sanded, prime and paint.
