How to fix damaged timber stud?

Hi guys

Today I was drilling 7mm holes in the bedroom wall in order to put anchors in for our tallboy.

I think I hit a timber stud and I was trying to drill into it but it must’ve been the very edge of it because the drill slipped off and went in at an angle and the hole became unusable. The wood was probably chipped as well.

My question is do I need to do anything for the chipped timber before I seal the hole? Just don’t want it to get mouldy or for the damage to get worse over time or something like that.

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

It's nothing to worry about. If you were to remove the plasterboard from your walls, I'm sure you would find a number of screw and nail holes and small imperfections in the timber studs that are left over from construction.
