How to fix unused fireplace coming away from wall?

Hi - my fireplace is coming away from the wall as shown. I dug out the cracks to try see the extent of it. It is somewhat secure still to low pressure usage. Looking for suggestions on how to re-secure it. Location is an inner west Sydney terrace. Thanks

Re: unused fireplace coming away from wall

Hello @dzg

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your fireplace.

In these situations, I suggest engaging the services of a fireplace specialist/installer. They will probably take the mantel apart and see if the anchor screws have pulled out. If they have its probable that the installer will either replace them or install new ones in another location. Even if you are not using the fireplace any time in the near future, it's prudent to use the proper heat rated adhesive on the mantle. In this manner should anyone use it the fireplace will be safe to use.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric

Thanks Eric, yeah it looks like the anchor screws have failed. I’ll follow your advice, thanks.
